Their are many positives and negatives in South Central. One good thing is that their is a good education. One bad thing is that it gets loud. Another good thing is alot of the people here are friendly. Another bad thing is that their are drugs in the city. Third thing is their is different races here in South Central. Finally, one bad thing is that their is ignorance. The three events that had the great est impact were the Crack Epidemic, LA Riots, and Immigration.
The first event that had a great impact on making South Central what it is today is the LA Riots. During the LA Riots, a black 15-year-old girl, Latasha Harlin’s, was shot by a Korean store owner who thought Latasha was stealing orange juice. The store owner was prosecuted with a $500 fine and probation. I think that if it would of been a Black or Latino store owner they would of been put into jail for a murder. People were mad because of this. With all of the high unemployment rates, poverty, and the killing of Latasha Harlin’s, people got mad and started burning about anything that they can burn down.The impact this gave people was that most of the city was destroyed and alot of people died during that time.
The second event that had a great impact on making South Central what it is today is the Crack Epidemic. The Crack Epidemic began in Nicaragua. The government started selling crack to their own people. People got addicted to it and began spending all their money on it. This caused families to brake up and wealthy people. They did wrong on getting their people into that. It changed South Central because people from Nicaragua brought it here and people started selling it and making it.
The third event that had a great impact on making South Central what it is today is Immigration. Alot of Latinos come to LA so that their kids can have a better life and get better education. Other people come to LA because of the war. They also come here because they think life is easier here. Some people that immigrate here try their best to be successful. This is changing South Central because blacks and Latinos are becoming more successful. In conclusion, hopefully we are all successful in life.
